1. Watch the opening for a real film and a student's film (of your chosen genre). Each member of the group will produce their own, but you can work collaboratively. Analyse them in terms of:
- Titles - font? where do they appear? Blank screen? Over the action?
- Sound - dialogue, music, sound effects
- Camera
- Mise-en-scene
- Editing
2. What has been done well?
3. How could it be improved?
4. How does it establish the genre, narrative, character, atmosphere and setting?
5. Reflect on this piece of research - what can you take away from it?
